As a private candidate taking GCSE exams you may be studying completely independently, you may be having some instruction privately or by correspondence course, or be in some other situation. If you are receiving help with your studies your tutor may be able to help you on the administrative and course requirements. We help where we can, but it is your responsibility, to see that all administrative requirements are met. All courses differ in their requirements and they differ from each examination board

How to register before it's too late...

Students frequently find it quite challenging to source an examination centre for GCSEs- it can take a lot of time and resources to actually locate a centre and then it can be time consuming to make the essential local arrangements with a centre. The huge benefit of using us is that we already have established relationships with exam centres all around UK, so we can help you find a centre and make the registrations.

We also have a clear understanding of all the data that the centre will require from you in order to organise your examination for you. By helping you arrange your examination, we are saving you time and energy that you can dedicate instead to your studies! We have relationships with a wide range of centres throughout the UK. Once you have sign up with us we will do all the leg work for you. We would advise that you use our search tool to review what centre would be most suitable for you geographically.

Bestgrade GCSE Tuition Ilford

tuition - GCSE Exam - teaching

We offer tailor-made GCSE retake courses for students who need to improve their grades. As we do classes in the evenings and weekends, you can study with us while doing A- levels or college.

Most GCSE subjects currently require an element of assessed coursework or practical test done under controlled conditions and marked by the teacher. It is very difficult for a private candidate to get an exam centre to help them with these components. We have experienced teachers and examiners who ca help your to improve your grades.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact us for more information related to tuition and teaching cources.

GCSE reform :what's happening and when?

Most exams will be taken at the end of the two-year course rather than on completion of modules.
There will be fewer bite-sized questions and more essay-style questions.
The content will be more challenging, with more substantial texts in English literature and a number of new topics in maths.

Everyone will have to do at least two science GCSEs (no single science option after 2016).
Coursework and controlled assessment will disappear from most subjects, apart from practical ones such as art, dance and drama.

Grading will move to a 9-1 scale, with grade nine being roughly equivalent to a top A* grade and a grade four equivalent to a low to mid grade C. 2016 marks the last year where GCSEs will be graded A* to G.
There are some differences to the GCSE changes taking place in Wales and Northern Ireland. There, both will be keeping the A*-G grading scale and, in Wales, two maths GCSEs will be taken from 2015.

As we offer a wide range of subjects for a number of different qualifications and through several different exam boards, our examination entry fees vary. There are also exceptions to fees, for example where practical assessment or oral examinations are required.

WJEC - Detailed information relating to the procedures for private candidates can be found in the booklet "Information for Private Candidates".

Examination fees will vary, with private schools and colleges being more expensive than your local state school. They are likely to be in the region of £80-£150 per paper. If you are sitting an examination with a practical element you may be required to attend workshops prior to the practical examination and the cost per paper could be considerably more.

Students should aim for an examination in the summer of each year. For GCSEs and IGCSEs with multiple papers, students must sit all papers for their subject in one exams series, either in June, or January (if applicable).

It is best that you apply for the examination as soon as possible. Do not leave your application to the final deadline date.
